Republicans or Democrats: Which is Better for America?

Republicans or Democrats will control the White House after the next election. Where should you put your money for the best return?

Yes, it’s that seasons again for politics. We have a Democrat in the White House and a number of Republican hopefuls trying to see who will oppose the President.

This is always an exciting time with debates and primaries all leading to the political conventions.

Then the real battle begins between the President and the chosen opposition.

But, which party will be better for American, Republicans or Democrats?

Republicans and Democrats Share the Blame

Unfortunately, the America that the Revolutionary War heroes fought and died for is no longer around.

Our Founding Fathers gave us a constitutional republic. Hardly anyone even knows what that is today.

A republic is a representative form of government in which the people choose representatives to manage the government in their behalf. This differs from a democracy in which the people directly vote on laws and other matters.

The constitution was provided to define government and limit what the government could do. Yet, today, government has its hands in just about every area of our lives. The Supreme Court interprets the Constitution is a very fluid way which allows government to extend it’s authority far beyond what the Founding Fathers envisioned as a limited government.

So, our government was instituted to be a one that is limited by the Constitution with representatives of the people making the government work.

The consequences of abandoning the strict limits of the Constitution have a profound impact on society and the longevity of our nation.

One of the ongoing problems we now have are entitlements. These are promises that government has given to people “entitling” them to benefits such as welfare, Social Security, Medicare and so on.

The money coming in from Social Security taxes, for example, is just now lagging behind the payments going out. And our “baby boom” generation is just starting to sink it’s teeth into Social Security and Medicare benefits.

While these entitlements were applauded and earned votes for the political leaders that initiated them, they are finally burdening our society with huge debts that can never be paid off.

Consider President Johnson’s “war on poverty” combined with the “war in Vietnam.” While President Johnson said we could do both, the pressure on exchanging foreign held dollars for gold was so great that President Nixon was practically forced to take the dollar off the gold standard. The unfortunate thing is that the war on poverty failed to eliminate poverty and the war in Vietnam failed to keep Vietnam out of the Communist sphere of influence. Both were failures that cost America dearly.

Right now about 42 cents of every dollar the federal government spends must be borrowed. Happily, Japan and China continue to be our biggest lenders, buying our bonds and sending excess dollars to us to help finance our lifestyle. But, resistance to future bond purchases is growing in these countries. Eventually the American government will have to simply print the money to pay for government programs. This will lower the value of the dollar and increase the prices of all goods and services, and gold will rapidly increase in price.

Our balance of trade is another problem as it sends billions of dollars abroad every month to pay for goods and services Americans buy. Much of this money is going to oil producing nations. This further weakens the dollar, reduces it’s buying power, reducing our security and steals the value of savings accounts of average Americans.

On top of that, our ill fated wars against terror have failed to bring a love of “democracy” to Iraq and Afghanistan. Although we are pulling out after claiming victory, there is precious little to show in the way of changed minds about democracy and America. And these wars will have cost trillions of dollars when the full costs of treating all our casualties are totaled.

All this leaves us with a staggering debt and no way to pay it off.

Both Republicans and Democrats have promoted policies that help weaken the dollar. While inflation is currently somewhat in check, the excessive spending and money printing policies of the current Administration will eventually fuel a new wave of inflation. This will increase the price of gold and lower the value of the dollar. Everyone with a savings account will lose.

While it’s fun to watch the election debates, it’s also sad to think that our country will never become financially stable again.

The pressures to overspend, borrow and print money are too strong. And, our currency will continue to decline in value with no end in sight.

Republicans or Democrats? What is the Best Choice for You?

Obviously, neither the Republicans or Democrats are going to be able to correct the financial problems of the country. Your savings, denominated in dollars, will never buy what it could buy yesterday.

The best course for you is not to put your money into either the Republicans or Democrats. The best choice is to put your money into a standard of value that is recognized worldwide. This, simply, is gold.

As the dollar declines in value your gold will retain its value. Think seriouslyabout investing in gold today. Let the Republicans or Democrats hoodwink other people with their fancy speeches.
